Inspirations Side By Side

In 2018, at Festival of Quilts, and knowing that this might be the last time we saw her stand, we bought a most wonderful packet of hand-dyed fabrics from Heide Stoll-Weber; a good friend and fantastic quilt-artist. Click on the image to see some of her work online...
As it looked like there would be no way for her to trade in the UK after Brexit, and as she does not sell her fabric online, this seemed like a good investment..
And we came home and made a quilt each. All we decided was that they would be the same size, and that we would add a dark Oakshott cotton to make the background - not the same in each quilt..
And they are so different, but in many ways, they led us in the same direction...
This is Bamboozled. HB took the colours and made this foundation-paper-pieced delight, using the subtle shades to enhance the three-dimensionalness.. It became her first Block Of The Month, still open for subscriptions and a stonking success... Click on the image to see the subscription page
And this is Fragmentations, my own take on the idea... It's interesting that the two pieces are so different, and that we both, without any kind of collaboration or discussion, made pieces with equilateral triangles as the main theme.. This led to my own Block Of The Month - Ragtime Click on the image to see the subscription page for this new project...
Our conclusion? Never pass a good fabric by...
