HEARTH and HOME

HB and I went to Festival of Quilts (HH writes) as actual punters this year, for the first time in many years. We set off very early on Saturday and got back late on Sunday, and had two whole days to just look, and enjoy (and chatter, and eat, and drink coffee) and then more looking, and more chattering (and more coffee…). We came home with sore feet and so many ideas and lots of inspirations for our Inspirations Pages, see below for our take on Traditional-And-Not-So-Much Log Cabin blocks.. If you thought Log Cabins were boring, think again…
I don't think I've ever found a Pinterest page so easy to fill...

And we have just finished our Exhibition - Armadillo and Pumpkin (see the page linked for an explanation, lots of images, and jolly delightful reactions…

One of the things we are looking at doing this Winter is taking a traditional block and twisting it until the proverbial pips squeak - HB and I have done this several times already, and we plan to provide some free resources (and, perhaps, get led astray)

And why "Hearth and Home"? - well, the traditional Log Cabin block has dark and light strips around a red square in the centre, to represent the hearth-fire's warmth as seen in the chimney. As it's got rather chilly, this seems appropriate for October...

So, nights draw in, time to light the fire, settle down with sewing (and a good book) and leave the garden to sleep...
